“I am purpose-driven. I know *exactly* what to do in every given moment to fulfill my perfect destiny. I am safe.” #todaysmantra
So let’s talk about the “off days.” The days those troubling, “old” feelings creep back in and try to knock you off your game, making you feel foggy about what you’re doing, and who for, and why.
As you walk out (or toward) your purpose, the highs typically remain pretty high. And although the lows, thankfully, rise higher over time, they’re still quite obviously “low.”
But on low days, we can’t allow ourselves to be taken down. We must remember what works to maintain motivation—or at the least groundedness—and root ourselves in that. Intentionally.
Today was—is—an “off day” for me.
For a very long time, I sought others’ approval. I didn’t BELIEVE in myself without “x” others to believe in me, in what I was doing, and support what I was saying.
And what is a lack of self belief than a refusal to accept oneself for everything we truly are? To love oneself, even on “off days”? I won’t say through trial and error, because there’s no “error” in continuous self-development. Even if the things we’re trying to develop in ourselves don’t seem to be producing fruit. So…
Through trials and more trials, I’ve found–
4 things that prove effective for me to consistently combat “down days”:
- learn to recognize a change in my behavior (am I feeling down? avoidant? irritable?)
- calm the nervous system through physical means (i.e., yoga, esp. kundalini)
- gently dissolve emotional blocks and troubling thoughts (i.e., reiki, guided meditation, breath work)
- support change through the unconscious mind (i.e., sound therapy, reiki therapy)
As long as I at least GO TO THE ROOM (workout/yoga/meditation room) and start the process, I know I’ll feel better in the end.
No question.
Within minutes. Then, I’m ready to face—seize—the day. Granted, sometimes that “seizing” is at a lot more “relaxed” a pace. (lol~ Remember, still not an “on” day.) But that’s natural, and perfectly fine.
At least there’s still forward motion.
Now these are just three of my favorite ways to keep powering forward on days we need it. But each of those three areas—body, mind, and unconscious mind— are so key!
We cannot run or sustain successful, fulfilling businesses (or lives) without a measure of HEALTH in all three areas.
And they’re all connected.
Remember, there is no such thing as staying in place. Either we’re growing, or we’re dying (falling behind). But consistent, purposeful action = growth.
Always.
Even if, sometimes… it still feels like standing still.
